Board President elected to lead statewide organization

Nestor Melnyk, president of Hamilton County Developmental Disabilities Services, was recently elected president of the board of trustees of the Ohio Association of County Boards of Developmental Disabilities (OACB), a state-level trade association that provides advocacy, communications, technical assistance, and professional development services to all 88 of Ohio's county boards of DD.

"OACB plays an important role in our statewide system of supporting people with DD in Ohio,” said Melnyk. “I’m honored to be elected to this position, and I look forward to continuing our work of empowering county boards of DD to advance their missions.”

As president, Melnyk directs all meetings of the board of trustees, provides oversight to the organization’s executive director, and helps set the strategic vision of the organization by creating board committees in a variety of subject matter areas and appointing fellow trustees as members.

Melnyk is a Principal at MSA Architects and has also voluntarily served on the Medicaid and Early Intervention workgroup through the Ohio Early Childhood Cabinet; completed two terms on the Ohio Development Disabilities Council, chairing its Children's Issues Committee; and helped advance patient and family-centered care initiatives at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center.

Melnyk has served on the board of Hamilton County Developmental Disabilities Services since his appointment in 2011. He was first elected to OACB’s board of trustees in December 2015 and most recently served as its vice president before being elected to his current position.
