From the Superintendent

I’m happy to report that our accreditation review was recently finalized and the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD) has awarded Hamilton County Developmental Disabilities Services a three-year accreditation!

DODD conducts accreditation reviews of every board of developmental disabilities in Ohio at least once every three years to ensure all aspects of a board’s operations comply with statewide rules. Depending on the findings of the review, a county board may be awarded an accreditation term of either one or three years. While these reviews are typically conducted in-person, due to COVID, this year’s review was completed virtually with interviews conducted through Zoom and documents provided digitally.

Preparing for and completing a successful accreditation review is an enormous undertaking. Our Quality and Performance team led the effort to organize all of the documentation and interviews for DODD’s review team, respond to reviewers’ follow-up questions and requests, and ensure that reviewers had a full understanding of the extremely high-quality support we provide in Hamilton County.

Our three-year accreditation would not be possible without the ongoing efforts of numerous staff across multiple HCDDS offices. Thank you for your commitment and dedication to providing high-quality services to people with DD in our community every day. I also want to thank everyone who coordinated the review, discussed the support we provide during interviews, and shared documentation with reviewers. Your hard work and commitment are appreciated!
