513Relief.org is a one-stop resource providing Hamilton County residents direct access to economic relief. 513 Relief coordinates the 513 Relief Bus, which provides resources directly to residents using a community-based approach. The bus is a mobile medical and social services bus. The bus is equipped with the technology to provide an array of services, from healthcare to enrolling in relief programs for Hamilton County residents.

Autism Connections’ mission is to improve the lives of all affected by autism. We do this by providing information & referral services, support groups, community outings and educational programs throughout the tri-state region. 

The Special Needs Resource Directory, supported by the Family Resource Center at Cincinnati Children’s, can assist parents, caregivers and healthcare providers identify, evaluate and access necessary services and supports. Focused on children and youth with special health needs who have physical, developmental, behavioral or emotional conditions, the directory contains information about local, regional and national resources. 

The Cincinnati Recreation Commission’s Division of Therapeutic Recreation offers leisure services for individuals with disabilities. The services promote healthy lifestyles and provide opportunities to participate in high-quality recreational, social and cultural experiences in the community, and our recreation facilities. 

Advancement and Transition Services (ATS) fosters quality life experiences for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities through innovative research, education and service.  Under the direction of specialized faculty, staff, and peer mentors, the programs offer vibrant inclusive community experiences on the University of Cincinnati campus.  Visit their website to learn more about the high school transition program, post-secondary college program, and program for adults with autism.

University Centers for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD) exist in every state and territory to serve as a resource in the areas of education, research and service to meet the needs of people with developmental disabilities. UC UCEDD is a leader in working with and on behalf of children and adults with disabilities and their families so they can lead the lives they want. UC UCEDD accomplishes its mission through education, training, research, impacting on policy, and sharing information.

Council on Aging of Southwestern Ohio (COA) administers home and community-based long-term care programs that preserve dignity and choice for older adults and people of all ages with disabilities. COA’s mission is to enhance people’s lives by assisting them to remain independent at home through a range of quality services. COA is the state-designated Aging and Disability Resource Network (ADRN) for Butler, Clermont, Clinton, Hamilton and Warren counties. As such, COA is the “front door” to a network of providers, resources and information for individuals and caregivers whose primary concern is being able to stay in their own homes, despite a chronic health condition or disability. Through COA programs, individuals and families can access services such as meals on wheels, transportation, personal care and homemaking assistance, caregiver support, respite and more. The mission of the Down Syndrome Association of Greater Cincinnati is to empower individuals, educate families, enhance communities and together, celebrate the lives of people with Down syndrome. By providing families with support, inspiration and information, we help individuals with Down syndrome achieve their maximum potential.

Siblings with a Mission is dedicated to serve and support siblings of individuals with special needs and their families. We’re all about supporting families and spreading hope, one story at a time. 

Special Olympics Hamilton County’s mission is to provide year-round sports, training and competition in a variety of sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience the joy of achievement, be included in the community, build skills and make friends. 

The Spina Bifida Coalition of Cincinnati offers person-to-person mentoring, scholarships, support and envisions individuals with Spina Bifida as confident, skilled and productive citizens, advocating for their own health and welfare.

Ohio Resources

The Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD) works with County Boards of DD and other related agencies to ensure the availability of supports to help people live as they choose, promote their health, safety and welfare, and assist families of individuals in reaching their goals. This website is designed to assist individuals and families in finding their way through the many opportunities available within a fairly complex system of services and supports. 

The Ohio Developmental Disabilities Council (DD Council) is one of a national network of state councils, committed to self-determination and community inclusion for people with developmental disabilities. Our mission is to create change that improves independence, productivity and inclusion for people with developmental disabilities and their families in community life in Ohio. You can find the DD Council guide to guardianship here.

The Ohio Self Determination Association (OSDA) is a non-profit organization that empowers people with disabilities.  Our goal is to expand awareness of self-determination principles, provide valuable training resources, and promote advocacy efforts. 

Ohio SIBS provides advocacy, education, leadership and supports that will promote enhanced quality of life, improved public policy and increased services and supports for adult siblings (of people with developmental disabilities) and their families.
