Employment Navigation

Ohio’s Employment First Initiative raises expectations for people with developmental disabilities to find and keep a job in the community.

Hamilton County DD Services’ Employment Navigation team works with people we support to explore career options that fit their unique skills and interests. We also partner with local businesses, providers and other agencies to assist job seekers throughout every step of the process so they can reach their employment goals.

In 2023, we provided employment support to 799 people.

Jaiyear Davis always wanted a job in the community. Since August 2023, he’s worked at Roses Discount Store, where he stocks merchandise and retrieves shopping carts. “He loves the idea of making his own money and spending it on things he wants,” said Robert Long, Transition Consultant.

After graduating from Aiken High School in 2022, Davis successfully completed a job readiness program. He flourished in his first job at Kroger and was eager to keep working.

Along with support and funding, our employment navigators help find solutions to potential barriers, such as the job application process, transportation, accessibility, and accommodations to help people work in the community.
